On My Radar

It’s been a pretty laid back week, but Saturday and Sunday are about to get a whole lot busier! I’m heading to the San Francisco Piers to pick up my bib for the Bay to Breakers race on Sunday, but before Sunday’s 12K race I’ve got the new Netflix murder mystery docu-series, The Keepers, to watch and a 10 mile run I have to get through!
Often you’ll find people reading, sleeping, or on their phones while taking public transportation. Well, Hamilton Cline, who teaches programming at the Academy of Art, does something else during his commute, he creates stunning sketches of all the different passengers on Bart. Take a look maybe you’ll recognize someone!
These images of men in rompers have been on my Facebook news feed all week! I looked through their website and they rompers are pretty nice, I love the Fourth of July special edition Romphim. Anyways, if you haven’t seen the video the video they put together you must! Are you ready to join the #rompsquad this summer?
Nike has taken a nighttime approach to track running with this new interactive pop-up track in Manila, Philippines. It’s the world’s first LED running track, and you can participate in a virtual race against yourself. I may need to take a trip to Philippines for this!
This is a bit of a long read, but definitely a must read story. This is an emotional first-hand account of modern-day slavery, the author Alex Tizon revealed how his family had kept a slave,  affectionately known as Lola, for more than 50 years.
Note: Alex struggled putting together this story, but once he started working for The Atlantic all the pieces finally connect. Sadly he died the day the editors decided to put his piece on the cover of this issue.
When Tarzan (the animated Disney version) came out in 1999, it’s safe to say that it was my favorite movie and one of Disney’s best soundtracks. Anyway, on Monday little Claire Crosby was back on Ellen singing one of my favorite songs from the movie, “You’ll Be In My Heart”
