The Chabot – Redtail Ridge Trail Run was my second Inside Trail Race
(click HERE to read about my first one)
Inside Trail puts on great races, and this one was no different.
This weekend my long run for Boston was 15 miles, so I signed up for the half marathon and then figured I could run the remaining 2-3 miles when I get home.
I felt more confident this time around and it definitely has to do with the amount of training I’ve been doing for Boston. I haven’t done much “trail practice runs” but I’ve been doing more running and hill repeats which helped.
Here’s what the half marathon course looked like:
and let’s not forget the elevation gain:
The trails were extremely well-marked and the aid stations well-stocked. As for the course, there were at least 3 very tough climbs with other small rollers interspersed. The terrain was mostly wide, well-maintained trails with a short gravel portion after the first aid station and paved trail to bookend the race (reminded me of Sawyer Camp Trail).
I didn’t get a chance to take many photos, I was to focussed on finishing, but here are some photos of race day.
What do you think? Should I sign up for another one?
