Running Goals And A New Workout

I’ve officially started training for the last and longest Giant Race in San Francisco, the Half Marathon.

I’m a little behind schedule because I was hoping to do a 12 week training but life happens and now I’ll be working off a 10 week training.

I haven’t been very motivated to run this race (it’s not my favorite course and I’ve participated 3 times already) but in a effort to motivate myself to run and train I’ve set a goal for this race. My goal is to PR at this half marathon. This means doing better than 2:18:58. Doable, right?

While training for the Giants Race I’m also training for my first Ragnar Relay. This past weekend I got to meet some of my teammates and we got our assigned distances for the race. I’m still learning a lot about the race so I don’t have specific goals set. My only goals so far is to learn everyone’s names and enjoy the group training.

Along with running I’ve also enrolled in a new workout class, OrangeTheory, which I think will really benefit me as a runner. The strength training, low impact cardio cross training,  and interval runs will add variety to my workouts and I hope will help me stay motivated.

I’ve taken 5 classes so far and have not regret the decision.
