Getting Back to Running

After running the Boston Marathon I took a break from running. I stoped the first two weeks to let my body recover, then I got really busy with work and then I just never made the effort to put the shoelaces back on…sad, I know. I ran maybe three times a week and really just didn’t care to get back into the routine after the first week of November.

This year I’ve got big running plans: two marathons with just a few weeks in between and I’m ready to hit another personal record. I know if I want to do this I need to start training.

I’m currently on week 2 of running and I’m taking it easy. I’m only trying to run 3 miles, 5 days a week, and I’m listening to my body. If at any point during my run I feel like I can no longer run, I’m walking, but I’m still finishing those 3 miles I set out to run.

It’s been raining a lot here recently so yes, running in doors at the gym is awful. I’m starting to get bored at staring at the same wall, but I know that if I want achieve a new PR I need to continue.  It might be time to take out the waterproof jacket I used for Boston and start running in the rain.
