In past years I have made resolutions and failed miserably. I don’t have a problem making the goals but it’s making ones that I’m actually passionate about or want to change. The number one thing I’ve learned about success and staying motivated is that you have to have the desire. So… I started changing my resolutions to things that I really wanted to accomplish.
MORNING ROUTINE // For years I’ve never set a morning routine. It’s typically wake up, shower, coffee, and run out the door. I really want to make it habit this year of getting up earlier so I’m not rushing, walk the dogs, and enjoy my coffee before heading to work.
EDUCATION // It’s time. I want to go back and I’m ready to go back to school and learn more! I’ve already started looking at different programs and schools. I’ve asked questions and attended to some orientations. It’s now time to start the application process (ekkk).
RUNNING // This is for sure going to be the hardest thing I commit to this year, but I want to get into the habit of running more. I did great when I was traning for Boston and I wish I continued. When I was training I was really enjoying it and I want to get that same feeling back.
FOOD // I’ve struggled with eating healthy for years. I’m lactose and gluten intolerant and I hate it. I suffer through the pain and I ignore all my body’s warning signs because I want to enjoy all the delicious foods. My goal this year is to learn to embrace these intolerances. It’s time to listen to body and treat it right. I want to learn to eat healthier and cook foods I can actually eat and ones my body can tolerate.
MAKE TIME FOR OTHERS // For the people who are important to me – Work/life balance is tough. It’s easy to lose touch with friends and family who mean the most to us. In 2020 I plan to make an effort not to just find time but to actually make time for those who are close to me.
MEMORIES // This has been a goal of mine for many years. My grandmother used to record all our family memories, she was a great photographer and I’ve kept all her camera’s and accessories. I’m so used to just taking out my phone and snapping the photo, but this year I’d like to trade my phone camera for an actual camera and create some great memory books.
READING // A goal of mine pretty much all the time is to read more. It’s one of my favorite ways to unwind. It’s the most effective way for me to relax, especially at the end of a long day. I have a huge stack of books just waiting for me to dig into!
SPENDING // Money can be a very sensitive topic. It was one that five years ago I would have never talked about. I always figured it was one of those “grown up” issues that would naturally take care of itself, eventually. Well, now that I’m verifiably one of those “grown ups”… I’ve learned a few things. This year I’m focusing on taking control of my spending.
